Introduction to Engineering Design
Description of course from PLTW- "Students dig deep into the engineering design process, applying math, science, and engineering standards to hands-on projects. They work both individually and in teams to design solutions to a variety of problems using 3D modeling software, and use an engineering notebook to document their work."
A snapshot of a few of the projects from the course...
Puzzle Cube Project: The first major project of the year, students are tasked with creating a small novelty item that helps solve the problem of a local furniture company.
Reverse Engineering: What is it and why is it important? Students reverse engineer products and learn why this is important.
|
Advanced Computer Modeling: Students build stronger modeling skills while still applying the design process to a problem of their choosing. Students use Autodesk Inventor to 3D model their designs throughout the entire school year.
|
Automata Project: Students are tasked with building a machine that can convert rotational motion into linear motion in a small tabletop toy.
